Identity is part of every artist's blueprint, often asked what inspires you to write. The 1st answer that comes to mind is "EXPERIENCES IN LIFE ARE MY MEMOIRS"... To be able to tell my story in an art form is a blessing in itself. To share with the others the path I chose to take to embody the man that I am "THE SPOKEN ONE" I wrote this track to create a sultry swing as well as the traditional congo drum cadence that has made the art of spoken word rich for the many years of its existence.

To battle life Is to recognize the balance of Good & Evil. They co-exist within one another creating a balance that’s unexplainable but yet harmoniously necessary. With my spiritual background, I chose a classic battle between Heaven and Hell to symbolize a relationship that gives a grave depiction into how this could be poetically understood as an art form, my vision of Despair and Confusion...

Poetry, an art form full of expressions and metaphors, it has been around for quite some time. I chose to write a dedication to it speaking in my own language. Sharing it with others giving them a glimpse in to my POETICAL SOUL. But at the same time introducing a musical aspect of it bridging the gap between literature and music It truly identifies who I am as an artist.

Becoming a victim to economic meltdown in 2009 I created Conflictions to express many political views in which I thought not only plagued me as an individual but many others who suffered the same fate.
The struggles we were facing needed to be spoken - educating those who are not aware of what's going on in today's society. Born and raised in the heart of the south I needed a musical piece that embodied those old African American spiritual - chants of overcoming the struggles within. And Producer Stephen Jerome Ferguson of SJF Music Inc. delivered this musical artwork, gift wrapped and ready to be told… Written by Orustus Ade' Track Harmonics produced by Stephen Jerome Furguson |
I share with you My Testament, Bass Guitarist Mark Ford supplied the dramatics of this rift with The Hive Recording Studio engineering the sound stage & effects to blend it all together. Being raised in a very strict Baptist household as a child I had learned to call unto him for spiritual guidance when times got ruff, I can hear my grandmother's voice saying son give it to god and let him fight your battle's.
2011 came to be as a real struggle for me, everything that surrounded me seem to have come crashing down, I needed to find a safe haven and a glimmer of light to lead me past this turmoil. Many times I had prayed to him and my prayers went unanswered so, I reached down within my Poetical Soul and spoke... Thinking of Thoughts was my first performance at a venue in downtown Seattle THE RE-BAR at an annual poetry slam event in the year 2010.
It was written to inspire those who are considered young to the art of spoken word. Getting away from the usual and more common style of the story telling approach to create a harmonized work of art that's different but still staying true to the identity itself. Talented Producer Stephen Jerome Ferguson of SJF Music Inc. once again supported and supplied the melodic sounds to help set Thinking of Thoughts apart from what's being heard today. Featured in TOT were my good friend, musical stage partner, and Songstress Latanya Horace who supplied a very creative sultry hook that effectively bridged the gap to Spoken Word and Soul. As all of my subject material is written, it's to be based on true events in my life as I know it to be.
Unpredictable Lust was created to capture a certain event in a way where the approach is different from anything I've ever written before, a short story narrative in the beginning that leads to the actual poetical piece itself… Complementing the dramatics, on bass guitar Mark Ford. The piece was written in 2009 well before the thought of making it a musical dialog. To make this effort possible Chris from The Hive Studio engineered and help created the scenes to complete this unpredictable story in my life. Emotional brings fourth many of my personal experiences and definition's to this entity called LOVE.
I wanted to capture it in a bottle as an art form and be able to share it with others. My collective approach to bring in a sultry swing of lead guitar and subtle percussion was ideal. After listening on repeat many, many times over I begun to think of another element’s missing? A complimentary expressive tone would bring this piece into a different dynamic and sound. What other way to accomplish this than to bring in known jazz vocalist DWIGHT TRIBLE… Written by Orustus Ade' Lead Guitar Rift by Kevin Cowden Background Vocals Jazz Pioneer Dwight Trible Special Effects & Arrangements by Stephen Jerome Ferguson Chris Pyle of The Hive Recording Studio |
Revolving through this carousel called love, cupid had finally plotted his revenge. At the most least and unexpected time a beautiful soul walks into my life. Eye Candy & Intellectually sound she was. But shockingly just when the connection seemed for real "Pooofff" she had vanished into thin air and was never seen again by my eyes. I was then diagnosed "LOVE SICK" A good friend of mines SJF supplied the antidote of a mellow & mystic groove for this track helping to cure this reality that was once upon a time ago...
